Coffin Point: The Strange Cases of Ed McTeer, Witchdoctor Sheriff

Coffin Point: The Strange Cases of Ed McTeer, Witchdoctor Sheriff

Ed McTeer was the boy-sheriff of island-bound Beaufort County, South Carolina, for thirty-six years. After an epic battle with the famous Dr. Buzzard, McTeer, a white man, claimed he was the "last remaining tie to the true African Witchcraft."

He was telling it true.

Beaufort, SC will showcase her gullah roots (as in root Doctor voodoo) this holiday season when author Baynard Woods tells stories about the legendary Boy Sheriff Ed McTeer in Beaufort at the County Council Chambers from 5:30-6:30 Tuesday Dec. 14, 2010.

Don't miss this event. Click and hear Radio Free Daufuskie field correspondent and author Baynard Woods talk about his book, including time spent with Roger Pinckney gathering rich material. You know that's a nice job to have, gathering stories from Roger Pinckney...
