Author and Lowcountry legend Roger Pinckney will be telling stories and reading from his books, including "Reefer Moon" and "BLUE ROOTS: African American Folk Magic of the Gullah People."

Roger will dock between Savannah, GA and Daufuskie Island, SC, at the Bull Point Marina on Saturday July 31 from 3 to 5.

International Heritage Development Conference

Speaking in Charleston for the International Heritage Development Conference, sharing "Applying Technology to Traditional Heritage Education, Interpretation and Tourism Initiatives." Examples using new media (blogs, podcasts, social networks) for interpretation for museums, municipalities, events, venues, and case studies in tourism product development... including a hands-on experience. Interesting that things one person takes for granted are note-worthy to another. Hope we have a good dialog, I know I'm ready to run with it.

Most of us will be happy to have 2009 past us. Been a tough row to hoe.
CityTrex has proven our value. Our downloads of tours increased in a down economy - fans of walking tours of Charleston SC and Savannah GA were pleased with the value of an iPod MP3 tour or a smart phone app in enjoying our historic Lowcountry, considered to be THE South.

We're succeeding in our mission to bring "new media technology to traditional industries." Our production and services side of the house (with "house" defined by: laptops + cell phones + mobile broadband) has gained new clients for three slow and steady years. We need to do some fancy branding on that. Good growing pains! Glad to have them!

Yemassee, SC Town & Country Holiday Home Tour

Nine area homes, plantations and churches on this tour vary in architectural style, age and size, and will offer many varieties of local flavor in the Yemassee, SC area.   The properties represent three centuries of the area's rich history, dating back to the early 1700's.

Several of the stops opening their doors on the tour offer rare glimpses into the history of the Civil War in the area. And the homes in Town reflect the Town's heydays of the early 20th century.

Stops include: Ebenezer Methodist Church, Huston
House, Old Combahee Plantation, Mays Family Home, Prince William's Episcopal Church, Richfield Plantation, Sloman House, Stoney Creek Independent Presbyterian Church and the Zahler home.
It is a self-guided tour, allowing visitors to tour the sites in any order and proceed at their own pace. A light lunch will be served at Richfield Plantation throughout the afternoon
for an additional $5 charge.
